Performers Bios
Los Lobos
Los Lobos were one of Americas most distinctive and original bands of the'80's. They may have had a hit with "La Bamba" in 1987, yet that song barely scratches the surface of their talents. Los Lobos are eclectic in the best sense of the word. The band draws equally from rock, Tex- Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, as well as traditional Spanish and Mexican music. To know Los Lobos however is to know their sound is not any one of these things, but a beautifull amalgam of them all.
From their first recordings, their rich musicality was apparent and on nearly every subsequent record, they have found ways to redefine and expand their sound, without ever straying from their musical traditions that have formed the heart and soul of the band.
For over 30 years Los Lobos has continued to defy easy descriptions and categories as they continue to be a vital and relevant part of our musical landscape, and it is with great pride that Cruzin for Life presents them to headline our inaugural concert.
Dave Mason
Dave Mason is one of the greatest living guitarists. Period. In a career that has stretched for over forty years Dave continues to write and create amazing music and wow live audiences all over the world. From his beginnings as one of the founding members of Traffic and the composer of the seminal rock anthem "Feelin' Alright" to his recent induction in to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Dave Mason continues to cement his place in the history of popular music.
In addition to his own career Dave has contributed to scores of other artists music including The Rolling Stones' "Beggars Banquet", George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass", Paul McCartney's "Listen to What The Man Said, and Jimi Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland", As a matter of fact it is Dave's acoustic intro that you hear on Jimi's take on "All Along The Watchtower" from that classic album.
This years show promises to be all that much better with the addition of Dave Mason to our Lineup, and it is with great enthusiasm that we welcome him to our show.
The Stray Cat Lee Rocker
Lee Rocker made his mark singing, playing, standing on, spinning and rocking his giant upright bass in the legendary band The Stray Cats. The Stray Cats have sold nearly 10 million albums and garnered an astounding 23 gold and platinum certified records worldwide. Founded by Rocker, Brian Setzer, and Slim Jim Phantom, The Stray Cats remain a radio staple, were music video pioneers at the infancy of MTV, and repeatedly brought rockabilly music top the top of the charts.
Over the years Lee Rocker has devoured everything he could about rockabilly music and has played and recorded with the musical architects and pioneers of the genre, including Carl Perkins, Levon Helm, as well of a few guys from England you may have heard of who appreciate the sound as well. George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Cruzin for Life welcomes Lee Rocker to this years show.
Our Host Candy Clark
Cruzin' for Life would like to welcome Candy Clark as this year's host for our benefit concert.
Candy is best known for her Academy Award nominated performance as Debbie Dunham in the iconic film classic, American Graffiti, directed by George Lucas. Candy has also been featured in such films as 'The Man Who Fell to Earth', with David Bowie, 'The Big Sleep', and 'At Close Range', as well as a host of other movies and television shows, most recently 'Criminal Minds'.
Cruzin' for Life is thrilled to have Candy Clark as a friend, supporter of our cause and host for this year's event!
